Dis/Order and The MENA Design Research Center are calling for young Palestinians to take part in storytelling and creative mapping workshop.

The workshop is designed for beginners who are interested in exploring the art of hand embroidery and its vast creative potential and for more experienced embroiderers who wish to advance their skills and expand their knowledge of contemporary embroidery.

Bissane Al-Charif and Chrystèle Khodr will be giving a three-day creative storytelling workshop. The workshop will explore storytelling tools through objects, set design and creative writing from fiction to documentary.

This workshop proposes to reflect on the construction of the book as a design object by experimenting with paper, format and binding choices.

The painter Negin Fallah will conduct a workshop to discover a unique style emerging from profound exploration in painting, drawing, and design practices, including Persian illuminations, Chinese paintings, and Indus miniatures.

In this intensive workshop, participants are invited to take classic Arabic poems and use them to make a typographic poetry book in Arabic. The approach is based on understanding and adapting the special qualities and characteristics of the Arabic writing system, calligraphy and typography.
