Almost There Film Festival - 6th Edition

The Heinrich Böll Stiftung Beirut office is holding the 6th annual ‘Almost There Film Festival | The Role we Play’ on human rights and migration from 14 September until 22 October 2022. 
 
The festival aims to highlight different perspectives of human rights and migration, including a wide variety of social, environmental and political questions.
 
This year’s edition, known as ‘The Role we Play’, will take place in different locations across Lebanon: Beirut (Dar El-Nimer), Tripoli (Sada and Ruwwad al Tanmiyat), Saida (Ishbilia), Hammana (Hammana Artist House) and the Bekaa Valley (Bayt Lamme). 

Dar El-Nimer for Arts and Culture in Beirut (14-17 September)
Hammana Artist House in Hammana (23-24 September)
Bayt Lamme in Bekaa (7-8 October)
Ishibilia Theatre in Saida (14-15 October)
Sada and Ruwwad Al-Tanmiyat in Tripoli (21-22 October)

Wednesday, 14 September 
5:00 PM | Panel discussion The Role We Play in justice and accountability from the North to the South of Lebanon.
6:30 PM | The Second Evasion by Diana Moukalled (35 min), Arabic with English subtitles. 
7:30 PM | Struck by Sara Kaskas (15 min), Arabic with English subtitles. Followed by a 30-minute discussion.
8:15 PM | Black Mouse by Ahmad Naboulsi (20min). Arabic with English subtitles. Followed by a 30-minute discussion and a reception.

Thursday, 15 September 
6:30 PM | How my Grandmother Became a Chair by Nicolas Fattouh (10 min), silent film. Followed by a 30-minute discussion. 
7:30 PM | Tangle by Malihe Gholamzadeh (12 min), silent film.
8:00 PM | The Feeling of Being Watched by Assia Boundaoui (90 min), English with Arabic subtitles. Followed by a 30-minute discussion.

Friday, 16 September 
7:00 PM | The Unknown Sweet Potato Seller by Ahmad Roshdy (15 min), English with Arabic subtitles. 
7:15 PM | Song Sparrow by Farzaneh Omidvarnia (12 min), silent film. 
7:30 PM | Shadow Game by Eefje Blanke Voort and Els Van Driel (90 min), English with Arabic subtitles. Followed by a 30-minute discussion.

Saturday, 17 September 
8:15 PM | Horn by Ghasideh Golmakani (8 min), Persian, English and Arabic subtitles. 
8:30 PM | Grandad was a Romantic by Maryam Mohajer (5 min), English with Arabic subtitles. 
8:45 PM | Scheherazade’s Diary by Zeina Daccache (80 min), Arabic with English subtitles. Followed by a 30-minute discussion.
