TALK | 'Ephemeral Returns' by Saba Innab

  • Dar El Nimer for Arts and Culture Clemenceau Bayrut, Beirut Governorate Lebanon (map)

A reflection on Nahr el-Bared reconstruction project constructs a framework to rethink how a camp is rebuilt after destruction. This framework takes us into a further aggravated dilemma which is building and dwelling in the permanent temporariness, in the extended refuge, exile and migration.

Saba Innab has worked as an architect and urban designer with UNRWA on the reconstruction of the Nahr El-Bared Camp in the North of Lebanon, a project that was nominated for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2013.
