MEET THE ARTIST | Sanaa Moussa

  • Dar El Nimer for Arts and Culture Clemenceau Bayrut, Beirut Governorate Lebanon (map)

Dar El-Nimer for Arts and Culture and Nadi Lekol Nas invites you to an encounter with Sanaa Moussa, moderated by Pierre Abi Saab.

With a PhD in cell biology, Sanaa Moussa merges her passion for the arts with a passion for science, often blurring the lines between the two. After over two years of field research into Palestinian folkloric and traditional music, Sanaa launched her first studio album, "Ishraq" (Reminiscence) in late 2010. This project presented Palestinian music in a new light, shaping a new trend and approach in the re-imagining of traditional Palestinian music. Ishraq was well-received locally and internationally, touring extensively worldwide. Sanaa Moussa is now recognized as one of the foremost singers of Palestinian folklore in the Arab world.

Sanaa's approach to Palestinian folkloric music is that of discovery and reinterpretation of scenes from within the collective memory of the Palestinian people.

This encounter with Sanaa comes after her two concerts at Masrah Al-Madina (April 20th) and Al-Bass camp in Tyre on April 21st.
