SCREENING | '3000 Nights' by Mai Masri

Dar El-Nimer invites you to the international DVD launch of '3000 Nights' with the screening of a short special behind-the-scenes documentary, followed by a discussion with director Mai Masri, and producer Sabine Sidawi.
 
The '3000 Nights' DVD is subtitled in 5 languages (English, Arabic, French, Spanish, and Italian), with special bonus features including ‘Behind the Scenes’, trailer and ‘Making of’ documentary.

'3000 Nights' tells the story of a newlywed Palestinian schoolteacher who is falsely arrested and incarcerated in an Israeli prison where she gives birth to her son. Through her struggle to raise her child behind bars, the film traces a young mother’s journey of hope, resilience and survival against all the odds. 

The film is inspired by a true story and shot in a real prison with lead actresses Maisa Abdel Hadi and Nadera Omran. It won over 24 international awards and represented Palestine at the Golden Globes and Jordan at the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Film in 2017.

Mai Masri directed and produced several films that have been screened worldwide and won over 80 international awards. She received international acclaim with her films ‘3000 Nights’ (2015) which had its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival; ‘Children of Fire’ (1990), ‘Children of Shatila’ (1998), ‘Frontiers of Dreams and Fears’ (2001), ‘A Woman for Her Time’ (1995), ‘Beirut Diaries’ (2006), and ‘33 Days’ (2007). She also co-directed with her late husband Jean Chamoun ‘Under the Rubble’ (1983), ‘Wild Flowers’ (1986), ‘War Generation – Beirut’ (1998), and ‘Suspended Dreams’ (1992).
