The Bygone Cinemas of Beirut with Mohamed Soueid

In the framework of the public program of 'Thief of Baghdad', Dar El-Nimer for Arts and Culture invites you to a talk by film critic Mohamed Soueid.

The presentation will focus on the old movie theatres of Beirut and their founding role in movie-going and film attractions throughout the 20th century, and how they are seen today from a cinematic perspective as if they were part of a Hollywood film set.

Born in Beirut in 1959, Mohamed Soueid is a Lebanese author and film critic. He published his articles in several Lebanese and Arab newspapers and worked as the film critic and editor of the cultural section at Assafir newspaper and the weekly cultural supplement of Annahar. Soueid published three books and also wrote and directed many documentaries and television films.
