Planning and Activism by Ismael Sheikh Hassan

This talk aims to discuss the role of mapping and planning in various Palestinian refugee struggles such as rebuilding destroyed camps, drawing the destroyed villages of origin in Palestine as well as in confronting multiple problematic planning projects. It will thus elaborate on the role of mapping as a tool of social organisation and its ability to capitalise on the power of both memory and imagination.

Ismael Sheikh Hassan is an urbanist and activist who has engaged in various post-war reconstruction projects and activist initiatives in Palestinian refugee camps and various Lebanese contexts.
