Sirine Fattouh
Artist Sirine Fattouh will be in conversation with philosopher Seloua Luste Boulbina and curator Mayssa Fattouh to discuss the exhibition 'In the Middle of a Leap into the Void'. The talk will tackle the artist's relationship with dreams, in between states of conscious and subconscious, displacement, the significance of anti-conformism in her practice, the representation of her native city Beirut, as well as the shift in the medium for this specially-commissioned exhibition.
Sirine Fattouh is an artist and researcher living between Paris and Beirut. Her work examines the consequences of violence and displacements on people's identities. Fattouh has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Paris, Rome, Brussels and Beirut, among others. She holds a PhD in Visual Arts and Aesthetics from the University Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (UFR04) and a Master's degree from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts of Paris Cergy (ENSAPC).
Seloua Luste Boulbina is a philosopher and theorist of decolonisation who is interested in the political, intellectual and artistic dimensions of colonialism and postcolonialism. She holds a postgraduate agrégation in philosophy and a doctorate in political science. She is the former programme director at the Collège International de Philosophie, Paris and a postgraduate research supervisor (HDR) at the Université Diderot Paris 7.
Mayssa Fattouh is a curator and cultural practitioner interested in intersections of art and knowledge production as means of sharing, communicating and hosting works by artists on various themes, such as broken systems, environmental crisis, motherhood, among others. Her writings appeared in numerous artists monographs and publishing platforms, and she is the co-founder of TandemWorks and an active member of the experimental online journal continent.
