Rouge
Women nurture stories like children, they give them birth then help them to grow. Women gather daily in the morning for coffee, then the usual questions, then the news.
The first story starts with the news. But lately this gathering is disrupted by instability and only their friendship brings them together; a friendship that is born after a first meeting at the station, where departure and waiting loom over them. The bus is late, so they start to fidget, complain, then disclose.
Rouge is a performance by a group of Syrian women refugees to Lebanon who were among a larger group that participated in literacy training organized by Action for Hope in 2015. After that, some of these women took part in a creative writing training program led by the writer Eman Said in 2016. This performance is a step further towards developing the creative skills of these women.
