May in the Summer by Cherien Dabis

To all appearances, May Brennan has it all: she is an intelligent and successful published author, set to marry her loving fiancé Ziad. Cracks in her seemingly perfect life begin to show when she returns to her hometown Amman for the wedding. Confronted with the wounds of her parent's long-broken relationship, coupled with the clash of the old world and modern values, May is led to question the direction her life is taking.
