Festival of the Story & Music

The folk tale is considered a literary work in every sense of the word. It is passed on from generation to generation orally, and subsequently it is polished as a result of this transmission. The folk tale also forms an important part of the oral heritage of societies and peoples. Hence the importance of preserving it to pass it on from generation to generation and to protect it from extinction.

This year’s Folk Tales Project, organized by Assabil Association and funded by the Welfare Association and the Kamal Al-Azaar Foundation, includes building the capacity of storytellers, a festival of folk tales, a round table about stories and performances by the trainees.

It aims to preserve the oral heritage, especially folk tales, and work to disseminate them by holding performances for several storytellers from Arab countries that include a traditional and folk tale for their country Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt.
