Holy Rail

The Center for Arts and Humanities - Mellon Grant at the American University of Beirut (AUB), in partnership with Dar El-Nimer for Arts and Culture, presents 'Holy Rail'.

The exhibition will showcase a rare collection of photographs and archival documents that were obtained from the Prime Ministry Archives of Turkey in Istanbul. This material documents the establishment of the Hejaz railway, which is considered the first major infrastructure project that the Ottomans were able to build and finance on their own. Moreover, the tremendous public contribution to this project on an international level made it the first example of an international Islamic project funded by the public.

The exhibition runs from May 2nd to June 2nd, 2018

Location: Second Floor | Open to the Public.
