Cabinet of Curiosities: Ultimate Un-necessities
We invite you to explore over 250 items of curiosity from around the world!
Expect artefacts, scientific instruments, household items, cinema and theatre posters, photographs, souvenirs and toys—and many more handcrafted obsoletes.
They are emblems of an almost different species, one that perhaps knew a different kind of intimacy with the physical world.
The objects are divided into themes based on their function. Many of them had been essentials in the household, while others were displayed for their uniqueness. They include tools whose invention had once taken an extraordinary level of skill and precision, yet were replaced today with modern, more practical alternatives.
The exhibition also brings to light the names of some personalities who left a mark in history, or contributed to our cultural memory in some way.
The door is open for weaving stories about these objects, places and personalities—a peek into history through sense and imagination.
