Daoud Abdel Sayed is an Egyptian director and screenwriter. He obtained a bachelor's degree in film directing from the Higher Film Institute of Cairo in 1967. As a child, Abdel Sayed wanted to become a journalist rather than a filmmaker. He started his career as an assistant director in some films such as The Land by Youssef Chahine and The Man Who Lost His Shadow by Kamal El-Shaikh. His passion for observing the city and its people pushed him to make many documentaries. Later, he started making narrative features which marked him as one of the most prominent Egyptian filmmakers.
