Awafi

An important focus of Dar El-Nimer's 2020 program is 'Awafi': a series of public programs aimed at creating partnerships with local communities across Lebanon by organising workshops, film screenings, performances, storytelling and encounters in collaboration with its partner network.

With the launch of 'Awafi', Dar El-Nimer intends to grow its activities beyond its premises and foster exchange of expertise, knowledge and experience in different fields and at a broader outreach. 'Awafi's three cornerstones are mobility, impact, and continuity.

Mobility provides artists and instructors with various platforms to explore their practices with different audiences. Moreover, organising public programs at different premises of partner institutions aims to improve and broaden access to arts and culture and combine competencies of various stakeholders. 'Awafi' is set to develop programs which stem from the set of expertise and expectations of each community. The goal is to organise impactful workshops, which involve new techniques, methods and narratives, and conclude with a tangible end product. 'Awafi' also plans to create a continuity prospect to follow up with participants. 'Rakwet Aflam', one of 'Awafi's main programs, aims to screen films followed by a discussion with the audience at different locations across Lebanon. Films featured in 'Rakwet Aflam' have been previously screened at Dar El-Nimer, in collaboration with various filmmakers and institutions.
