ARABIAN FANTASIES

OLA DAJANI

30 March 2019, 9 AM - 12 PM

Arabian Fantasies is a creative workshop delving into the narratives behind Abboudi Abou Jaoudé’s collection of posters on show at the Thief of Baghdad exhibition. Working with textile, fibre and paint to produce illustrated and embroidered fabric posters, the workshop is designed for beginners who are interested in exploring the art of hand embroidery and its vast creative potential and for more experienced embroiderers who wish to advance their skills and expand their knowledge of contemporary embroidery.

Born in 1979, Ola Dajani is a textile artist and embroiderer, with a practice that stems from her fascination with the representation of emotions and fantasies. Ola’s work possesses unique visual language with a strong presence of figurative forms conveyed in fibre and textile, amongst other media. She creates worlds for her subjects that are at times playful and lyrical and at times heavy and silent. Ola uses a range of media, always being led by her curiosity and love for experimentation, delivering darkly creative narratives of harmony and disharmony. She currently lives and works in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
